The weeds have finally been cleared and most of the Cascade hop shoots are up. The earliest ones were picked for the Toronado Belgian Beer Dinner in SF last week. The Chinooks, as usual, haven’t yet made it above ground. I can relate to their later schedule.

They are mostly all at the tops of the strings and some of the Cascades have already formed cones. Others are flowering, and some are still deciding what to do. Promises to be a tasty year!

Still just a few flowers as most all are in good-sized cones that are starting to smell pretty nice. Fist picking in 3 to 4 weeks, second picking likely 2 weeks later.
